Rolex Submariner Date 41mm Kermit 126610LV and Black 126610LN

The green superhero is dead, long live the frog king.

Immediately after its official launch, we reported on the 2020 Rolex Submariner Date collection. For simplicity, all seven older models were replaced by new watches, meaning two steel models, two Rolesor watches, two gold versions and one platinum version. The new Sub Date 41mm is off to an impressive start. Nevertheless, we have just had the opportunity to meet the brand and we hope to give you a fresh impression of the two most important releases, both in Oystersteel, the new “Kermit” reference 126610LV and the classic Black on black model 126610LN. best replica watches

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW SUBMARINER DATE 41
In short, Rolex is playing its conservative card here, and its updates remain imperceptible to non-industry insiders. Like it or not, a Submariner is still a Submariner, and only a trained eye would instantly recognize a 2020 model next to the 116610 version. For some, that’s why the watch works; for some, it’s why the watch works. Incredible consistency in design. For others, this is why they don’t like the watch. Everyone has their own.

However, Rolex has done much more than just a new movement in this new Submariner Date. The brand actually changed almost every component of the watch. The case diameter has been updated to 41mm, and the shape and proportions are also different. Lug width is now 21mm (was 20mm). By shaving 0.5 mm off the inner surface of the lugs, Rolex made it thinner, moving away from the so-called “super case”. The strap follows this update as well, being 1mm wider across the length. The dial and bezel are very much the same as the previous Subs, but with updates such as longer minute hands or wider hour hands.

And, of course, a new movement, the latest generation in-house caliber 3235, with a modern antimagnetic Chronergy escapement and blue Parachrom hairspring, and a comfortable 70-hour power reserve. All in all, this is a modern and robust movement that balances durability with precision (COSC certified and rated at -2/+2 sec/day).

However, we’re not here to discuss specs. This has been done. Instead, we wanted to show you our first impressions of the new Rolex Submariner Date 41mm and what the new 116610LV “Kermit” (objectively the hero model) actually looks like.

A new case/bracelet ratio
First, the case. Yes, it’s bigger, but by a small margin. To be fair, the extra millimeter of diameter is hardly noticeable. No complaints here, and while I’m personally a big fan of small watches, the increased size certainly isn’t a deal-breaker or change my opinion of this new model. In fact, I might even go so far as to say that the 2020 Submariner Date fits a little more compactly on the wrist than the 116610 that came before it. high quality copy watches

The reason is the updated scale. The lugs are thinner, more tapered and more ‘pointy’, giving the case a lighter look and, to the delight of many aficionados, reminiscent of the old 5-digit reference. Combined with the wider bracelet, this rebalances the watch and actually makes it (somewhat) less obtrusive and less bulky. My main gripe with the previous references (2008-2020 generation) was the square shape of the “super case”. Now that’s all gone, and I can see a little elegance in the game. Lug-to-lug dimensions and thickness, although not measured correctly yet, feel pretty much the same as the previous reference, so no major issues here.

The bezel is still made of glossy ceramic with a platinum PVD-coated 60-minute scale and, as usual, is a pleasure to use. The rotation after 120 clicks is both firmly engaged and smoothly actuated, with that high-end feel that Rolex is known for. The dial has been updated very subtly, the Mercedes hour hand is now wider and slightly shorter. The minute hand has increased in length and now touches the minute track. Other than that, there have been no major evolutions, and the iconic Submariner-style look has always been there.

Again, though, the proportions have shifted a bit. The increased size of the watch facilitates opening of the dial, making the watch more modern, or at least less cluttered. The entire face of the watch has been rebalanced (again, we’re talking small updates…), but this is noticeable on the wrist.

Kermit’s Return
The main talking point of this new collection is the introduction of black dials combined with colored bezels, whether in steel 126610LV (lunette verte) or white gold 126619LB (lunette bleu). In the previous generation, the two perfect replica watches featured a color-matched sunburst brushed dial, which has now been replaced by a glossy black lacquered dial.

With this in mind, Rolex reintroduced the concept of the ‘Kermit’ watch, a model introduced in 2003, with a black dial and green aluminum insert, thus replacing the previous all-green ‘Hulk’. Still, calling the new model “Kermit” seems rather inappropriate to some collectors, as the results are quite (in fact, very) different. Due to the nature of the ceramic and its smooth surface, the green bezel (as does the blue bezel) is quite unique in its texture and color, changing from milky green to bright emerald green in direct sunlight. But that’s already the case with the Hulk model.

Then, there is the combination of a green bezel with a black dial. On the one hand, the green dial of the previous generation 116610LV adds a lot of uniqueness to it and gives the watch a strong personality. On the other hand, this is my personal opinion, and I’ve always regretted that the dial and bezel don’t have the same shade of green. Now, the watch has a different personality thanks to the stark contrast between the green bezel and the black dial. However, its look and color are a far cry from those of the older Kermit – the aluminum doesn’t affect ambient light the same way.

Having said that, this new Submariner Date 41mm 126610LV is my favorite model in the range. Understated difference with a touch of color. Some will like it, some won’t. Let us know in the comments if you like the new or old Kermit or Hulk, and why.

classic black on black
Well, no surprises here. Once you put on your new 126610LN, you’re clearly in familiar territory. Case, bracelet and proportions aside, this black-on-black version is a no-brainer. A classic, conservative, risk-free combination that looks good now and will look good in 20 years, but still isn’t the most original version you can think of.

The 126610LN will certainly have its fans, some will prefer the classic look of this black-on-black scheme over a slightly bolder green bezel, and some will appreciate the timeless appeal of a darker-toned dive watch over a fancier Exterior. Color border. Since I already have a lot of watches with black dials in my collection, I’m leaning towards the green model over the black one. But then again, it’s just my personal taste.
