Start your engine. The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron 16-cylinder Tourbillon watch reproduces the famous Bugatti W16 engine in the watch. Visible from the top and through the Bugatti horseshoe grille, the animated and tilted tourbillon is in the perfect position to share this stunning movement with your friends.
Sitting beneath the sapphire crystal, this masterpiece of tiny motors is suspended within four “shock absorbers” that actually move. Push the right crown and turbo shaft, the crankshaft turns, and even the 16 tiny pistons pump up and down. Take a closer look – yes, it even has a functioning “fuel reserve” that monitors the watch’s 60-hour power reserve. But unlike the tourbillon, the animation component of the Shopping men watch has no horological purpose, just visual impact. The automaton (engine movement) lasts 20 seconds and can be activated 3 times before rewinding is required.
The actual movement of the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron 16 Cylindrical Tourbillon, the JCAM37, is composed of 578 parts and is manually wound with a one-minute tourbillon tilted at an angle of 30 degrees. A Bugatti horseshoe-shaped window showcases the tourbillon, and the titanium case is inspired by the Chiron’s fluid lines. At 44mm wide, 54mm long, and 20mm thick, it’s pretty big. As with several other Jacob & Co watches, the sides are made of sapphire crystal, forming a window into the mechanism.
