IWC Big Pilot white ceramic “Lake Tahoe” perpetual calendar officially launched

It is no longer a secret on the wrist of Lewis Hamilton, but a new addition to the copy watches Price world.

News of a mysterious new IWC Big Pilot watch emerged last month after photos surfaced of Lewis Hamilton wearing it before the race during F1 in Miami. It’s not hard to see what this watch is – the roughly 46mm-plus case size, solid white case and bracelet, and intricate dial layout make it easy to spot even without zooming in on the photo. But a problem arose a month ago: the watch didn’t exist, at least officially. Well, things are different now, because IWC has officially launched this white ceramic.

The Lake Tahoe β€” a name conceived by IWC and Pantone to describe the color white β€” was designed for the first time in chronograph form last year. Many are wondering when we’ll see a Perpetual Big Pilot variant like the Mojave version of the chronograph/QP tandem. Now that we have this new Top Gun Big Pilot, named for its association with the US Navy’s Strike Fighter Tactical Trainer (Topgun) program, it’s clear that this design sings well in its black and white iterations. While Mojave is visually interesting with its sepia aesthetic, this new model is pretty exciting.

No changes other than the color, so what you get is the same IWC-made caliber 52615 movement that offers nearly every measurable timekeeping option on the dial, including a special dual moon phase complication that allows the user to read the phase of the moon Northern and Southern Hemispheres – This complication will only be off by one day in 577.5 years.Review copy watches

Watch comes with white rubber strap and deployant clasp. Its 46.5mm white ceramic case certainly won’t fit all wrists, but it’s worth a try if you can.

The new watch is currently attracting attention from the wider watch community. Many started calling it the “Storm Trooper”. My fellow Star Wars fan loves a good nickname associated with the Galactic Empire. Honestly, the name works in this case. Interestingly, this version follows the white (well, silver) dial Mark XX from earlier this month.

I had a chance to get my hands on the Lake Tahoe Top Gun Chronograph last year and I really liked the overall look of the matte black dial against the solid white ceramic case. This is a thoroughly modern design that is both bold and soft.

I have to imagine this new Big Pilot is definitely the best in the metal. With white numbers (as opposed to tan on Mojave), legibility is the name of the game. The text pops off the dial, making an otherwise extremely complex layout easy to understand.

Of course, this is thanks to the large case size, but they don’t call it the Big Pilot for nothing. I know, of course, the watch is too big for me, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring it both as a mechanical timepiece and as a serious design project. Other than the Mojave or steel Big Pilot QP we’ve already covered, there isn’t much to say except that this new design really works and we can’t wait to see for ourselves.
