To celebrate the 30-year partnership between Chopard and Mille Miglia, Geneva-based Maison presented a new sports version of the symbolic series Mille Miglia in subtle gray tones – Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigrio Speciale – Yu on the “Classic Racing”.

The now inseparable connection between Chopard and “Classic Racing” stems from the personal passion of Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele for collector cars. In 1988, the watch factory became a partner and official timepiece of the famous Mille Miglia, which was embodied in this appearance.

For thirty years, this endurance race will have more than 440 classic cars competing with each other on the 1,000-mile route from Brescia to Rome and back each spring, and continue to wind around in the charming Italian scenery. Known as “the most beautiful race in the world” by Enzo Ferrari, this is the source of inspiration for the watches of men series of the same name founded by Chopard.

The gray Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale is recreating the characteristics of a “classic racing” car. They participated in the Italian rallies between 1940 and 1957. The case with red accented case and dial exudes a powerful appeal and is suitable for all occasions. This modern timepiece is limited to 1,000 pieces.

It is equipped with a solid 43 mm diameter case, the case is made of sandblasted titanium (an extremely light and durable material), and the top of the bezel is set with scale black aluminum inlays. This fake watch is completed by the one-piece strap in Cordura. This high-performance fabric can also be used for racing suits. The screw-in watch back cover is fixed by eight black PVD-treated screws to ensure water resistance to 100 meters. Engraved with the words “Brescia>Rome>Brescia”.

Although Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale does have a variety of shades of gray as the name suggests, it also has a contrast effect. The delicately embellished anthracite dial is lit by “Rosso Corsa”, or just lower the red tip of the central seconds hand. The arrow-shaped Mille Miglia logo frames the date hole. The black Super-LumiNova® painted oversized Arabic numerals at 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock are particularly eye-catching on the dial background.

Looking back at the historic car dashboards, they can meet the readability requirements of Italian rally races in any weather. For the same purpose, the broad multi-faceted sword-shaped hands and metal hour markers are coated with black luminescent material. Just as the driver pays attention to the gasoline level during the 1600km of Mille Miglia, the owner of the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale will be able to check the power reserve of his timepiece via a dedicated indicator.

Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale has an “engine” that has both precision and performance. Movement 01.08-C is completely developed, produced and assembled by Maison Chopard’s workshop, and is an chronometer certified by the Swiss Official Astronomical Clock Testing Association (COSC). It has a power reserve of up to 60 hours.
