New: Jacob & Co Casino Tourbillon

Jacob & Co luxury has released a new addition to its Casino collection in the form of a tourbillon movement, visible only from the case back. The dial side is kept clean and serves as the stage for the roulette complication.

Perhaps this new watch can be seen as an extension of the Jacob & Co Casino collection. The first member was unveiled in 2019 as Astronomia Casino. We wrote our comprehensive review of Casino Astronomia here. Watches in 2019 are very complicated. On one side of the dial are four armed Astronomia logos hovering above. Each of the four arms features a 1-carat, 288-faceted diamond, magnesium-lacquered globe, hour and minute sub-dials, and biaxial flying tourbillon. Below the arm is the roulette complication.

The current novelty is somewhat a simplified version. Gone is the Astronomia‘s 4-arm complication, replaced by a clean, simple black onyx dial raised above the wheel and set in the middle of the dial like a medallion. The roulette itself has the same complication as the Casino Astronomia, but is now more legible and beautifully displayed on the dial. The case is also more modest in size, measuring 44mm in diameter and 16.3mm in height, compared to the 44mm x 27.8mm case of its more complicated sibling.

Subjectively, we found Casino Tourbillon more attractive than Casino Astronomia, despite the complications. The dial looks clean and nice. As many of our regular readers know, we prefer the tourbillon, which is only visible from the back of the case, leaving the dial untouched by the large aperture to reveal it. prefer.

Life is a game. It deserves an interesting timepiece. Casinos offer a lifestyle comparable to those offered at the Monte Carlo Casino or the high-stakes rooms at the MGM Grand. Jacob & Co.’s jovial nature and ingenuity are the purest expression of this clean, sleek, stylish roulette timepiece with its rose gold and black onyx dial. Playing with watchmaking classics and defying convention and etiquette, Casino sets a unique tone for today’s watch industry.

Based on the most thorough example of technology, the Casino features Jacob & Co.’s first flying tourbillon on the caseback side, featuring high-end finishes and refined material details. Casino leaves its entire space of expression to a fully functional free spin roulette featuring 37 pockets and a white ball designed for chance, good luck and ultimate excitement.

Pure luxury Jacob & Co.’s casino-inspired venues include Bellagio’s high-stakes rooms and Monte-Carlo Casino’s plush carpet floors. The decoration and details of this timepiece set the same tone. The hour and minute dials are made of a single piece of black onyx, mirror-polished and set with 5N gold indexes. Their kite shape is a nod to the kite-cut sapphires used in various Jacob & Co. creations.

The black PVD flange contains eight diamond-shaped deflectors designed to increase the level of variation in the roulette game. The wheel rail flange, the small wall at the bottom of the upper side of the dial, is mirror polished, just like on a real roulette, and leaves a small space between the dial and the sapphire crystal. The space is large enough for the entire dial and wheel track to work as one continuous unit, yet small enough for the ball to stay down and end up in one of the 37 pockets.
Pure attention to detail While the Casino presents a familiar face to those who already know Astronomia Casino, the Caliber JCAM51 is an entirely new creation. The Roulette module is based on the base movement of the previous generation and has a comfortable weekend power reserve of 72 hours. It is regulated by a flying tourbillon located on the back of the case.

Its carriage features the new Jacob & Co. design, as its arms are sculpted and painted in exactly the same way as the wheel heads. This black and red pattern is also arranged on two application plates, which are screwed to bows on either side of the caseback, serving as the winding and time-setting crowns. The numbers appear in the same order as the numbers on the opposite side of the Casino.

The joy and excitement that has become a unique Jacob & Co. signature reaches new heights. The Casino’s sleek black dial has a tuxedo-like appeal. The complexity of roulette is what Las Vegas deserves. The understated yet highly emblematic tourbillon marks the true fine watchmaking essence of Jacob & Co. watchmaking.
