Welcome to the METaverse: Watch the finds on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet

The theme is the Gilded Age, with stars popping up and appearing in some stunning timepieces.

Over the years, the Met Gala, a fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has become fashion’s most important red carpet. Unlike serious ceremonies like the Oscars or Cannes, celebrities and designers are encouraged to walk in their quirkiest ensembles and accessories. For observers, this means seeing rare and wonderful timepieces in the wild!

This year’s Met Gala is an homage to the Met’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” exhibit, with the theme of the event “Gilded Glamour.” Guests were instructed to “embody the grandeur of New York’s Gilded Age—perhaps a dichotomy,” which lasted approximately from 1870 to 1900.

Of course, the theme is usually just a hint (Gigi Hadid’s red patent bodysuit, for example, has nothing to do with the Belle Époque or anything gilded). Still, there were plenty of sparkling timepieces on display.

Here are our favorites.

Ryan Reynolds’ Omega Moonwatch
Before the event, we hope to discover a pocket watch.

Happily, Met Gala co-chair Ryan Reynolds had a pocket watch chain sticking out of his vest pocket, but we never saw it attached to anything. We can’t help but notice his 18K Moonshine Gold Moonwatch from Omega peeking out from under his cuff.

Mark Robb’s Jacob & Co. Astronomy
YouTuber and engineer Mark Rober’s blue velvet evening gown might not be the most creative look at Gala. Nonetheless, his Jacob & Co. Astronomia watches carry all sorts of high-society energies.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur MT Cobalt Blue by Nyjah Huston
One of the hallmarks of the Gilded Age was the affluence of the upper class and a shift in American social mores. Andrew Carnegie called it the “Gospel of Wealth.” Athletes are redefining fashion these days and are present on the red carpet as much as models and designers.

Olympian Nyjah Huston in blue Vivienne Westwood is the highest-paid professional skateboarder in the world, and he can afford Roger Dubuis.

Michelle Yeoh’s Richard Miller RM07
The movie legend proved that she could make it to fame in a gorgeous green Prabal Gurung gown and diamond-encrusted Richard Mille RM07.

If the elegant ladies of the HBO series The Gilded Age could travel through time, they would rock this watch.

Jack Harlow’s Rolex Sky-Dweller
What is popular? Rapper Jack Harlow’s Rollie!

The musician loves his Sky-Dweller so much that he even wore it to the 2021 Met Gala. And guess what, his chocolate brown Givenchy suit still looks top-notch. Normalize wearing the same watch on more than one red carpet!

De Bethune Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon “Season 1” by Swizz Beatz
Swizz Beats brings Henry James’ New York into the 21st century with his Ralph Lauren styles and the futuristic De Bethune Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon Season 1 – a limited collaboration between the manufacturer and watchmaker starting in 2021.

Dwyane Wade’s Vacheron Constantin Legacy
Basketball legend Dwyane Wade and partner Gabrielle Union rocked Versace in Tiffany & Co. jewelry. his wrist.

Cory Gamble’s Patek Philippe Tiffany Nautilus
Not that it has anything to do with gilded glamour, but we’d be disappointed if we didn’t see at least one Patek Philippe Tiffany Nautilus. Fortunately, the business executive, talent manager, and boyfriend of Kris Jenner didn’t disappoint.

Pete Davidson’s Rolex Datejust
As we keep up with the Kardashians, Kim walks up the Met’s stairs in Marilyn Monroe’s infamously iconic “Happy Birthday Mr. President” gown. Meanwhile, Pete Davidson wears a Rolex Datejust.

Cartier Tank Solar by Sarah Jessica Parker
The notorious SJP is a big fan of the Met Gala in 2022 in a black and white Christopher John Rogers ball gown, a towering Philip Treacy tiara and a very prominent Cartier Tank Solar, impressive.

Longines DolceVita by Regé-Jean Page
“Bridgeton” star Regé-Jean Page wore a sparkling navy velvet gown and a custom brooch by Graziela. On his wrist, Page chose a rectangular Longines DolceVita with a blue strap to complement his outfit color.

Oscar Isaac’s Cartier Tank Française
More pure gold, but this time, it’s from “Moon Knight” star Oscar Isaac’s Cartier Tank Française.

The actor paired the classic timepiece, Cartier Love bracelet and cufflinks with a white tie and tail trompe l’oeil dress by Thom Brown.

Vintage Cartier Pocket Watch by Emma Corrin
Emma Colin of “crown” fame was right at Cartier, including wearing a vintage 1914 pocket watch clipped to her belt.

Wearing a top hat, the actress showed a playful and youthful take on Edwardian aesthetics.
