The U-42 Chrono Gold watch is produced in limited quantities, successfully combining titanium and precious gold. The case, the two-way rotating bezel and the back cover are all made of titanium; while the bezel, crown, chronograph buttons, screws on the bezel and minute indicator on the bezel release lever are made of 18 carat gold. The ball indicator at 12 o’clock on the bezel is made of ceramic.
All the carvings of this work are done by mechanical pantographs. Before the final assembly was completed, the electrical resistance of this piece was tested in an autoclave at 40 atmospheres. The winding crown consists of two parts: one part is connected to the movement shaft, and the other part is hinged on it by a pivot. This provides a flexible joint configuration that allows the crown to protrude significantly from the watch itself for winding and setting, while returning it to a protected hidden position, reducing side clutter during operation.
