New Product: Seiko Astron GPS Solar-Powered Dual Time Zone Chronograph

To celebrate the company’s 145th anniversary (1881), Seiko has launched a new product – the Astron GPS Solar-Powered Dual Time Zone Chronograph.

Four new watches have been released. Three are from the regular collection, and one is a limited edition. The three regular collection watches feature different dial color schemes – blue-grey, black, and black with gold. The first two come with titanium bracelets, while the black with gold model has a silicone strap. All three watches have black bezels.

But what truly stands out is the case. The case is crafted from titanium and coated with Seiko’s signature super-hard coating. The case back features an octagonal bezel with a beveled finish. This bezel covers the multifaceted middle layer of the case. The overall design of the watch bears a striking resemblance to the work of Gerald Genta, sharing many similarities with his famous Royal Oak collection. The case has a diameter of 43.4 mm and a thickness of 12.4 mm, making it quite substantial in size. https://www.chrono-wrist.co.uk

In 1881, Kintaro Hattori opened a shop called “K. Hattori” in Ginza, Tokyo, which was the precursor to the Seiko we know today. Adhering to the philosophy of “always being one step ahead,” he produced Japan’s first wristwatch in 1913.

Upholding its founding spirit, Seiko underwent a rapid transformation in the 1960s. During this decade, the company launched several groundbreaking products, including Japan’s first chronograph wristwatch in 1964, the first diver’s watch in 1965, and the world’s first quartz wristwatch—the Quartz Astron—in 1969. Furthermore, Seiko Blue was introduced during this decade; this iconic color, after continuous refinement, is still used today, embodying Seiko’s pioneering spirit.

Continuing this tradition, Seiko introduces a new limited-edition Astron watch, inspired by Seiko Blue and adorned with striking blue elements, to commemorate Seiko’s 145th anniversary. This timepiece is powered by the new GPS solar-powered dual time zone chronograph movement 5X63. replica watches for sale

New Movement and New Dial Layout

In 2012, Seiko elevated electronic watchmaking to a new level with the Astron GPS Solar watch. This timepiece connects to the Global Positioning System (GPS), automatically adjusting to various time zones* with the touch of a button, and is entirely powered by solar energy. The new 5X63 movement integrates dual time zone display technology and chronograph function, achieving a timing accuracy of 1/20th of a second in chronograph mode, with a maximum timing range of 24 hours.

*Manual selection may be required if the region/time zone/daylight saving time changes.

This limited-edition watch celebrates the anniversary with blue accents in key areas of the dial. The blue seconds markers and sub-dials contrast sharply with the bright light silver of the main dial, creating a fresh, modern, and sophisticated look. Thanks to the new movement, the sub-dials are arranged in a symmetrical horizontal layout on the main dial. Against the backdrop of the main dial’s intersecting triangular geometric pattern, the overall design exudes a calm and understated elegance.

The new structure delivers a superior wearing experience.

This new timepiece inherits Astron’s signature dynamic case design, with its striking multifaceted contours. It also features a newly introduced two-piece octagonal titanium bezel, achieving a low center of gravity and enhancing the wearing comfort of the lightweight titanium case. The brushed finish on the top of the bezel contrasts elegantly with the polished sides, further enhancing the design aesthetics.

This case also features a quick-change system, allowing for easy removal of the strap with the touch of a button. Changing the strap is equally convenient; simply press it into place for a secure fit. This allows for quick switching between the titanium bracelet and the exclusive silicone strap, creating versatile styling options and enhancing functionality. The strap is made of reinforced silicone, making it durable and suitable for everyday wear.

Three new color schemes have been added to the Astron collection.

In addition to the commemorative edition watches, the collection also includes three new regular production models featuring the same movement and design: one with a blue-grey dial, one with a black dial, and another with a black dial, gold inner bezel, markers, and hands, all paired with a black silicone strap. Furthermore, all the latest GPS solar-powered dual time zone chronograph watches released today are compatible with both white and black silicone straps and are available for purchase.
