MB&F Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback EVO

After years of research and development, MB&F replica has finally released the LM Sequential Flyback EVO.

The development of the new LM Sequential Flyback EVO watch took nearly five years. Originally planned for release in 2022, the initial version did not feature the flyback chronograph mechanism due to delays in its development, and was named LM Sequential EVO. Then, in 2024, development was finally completed, and the LM Sequential Flyback officially debuted. It’s worth noting that it is not part of the EVO series. Now, we finally have this watch, presented in its original form, combining flyback chronograph functionality with the EVO design.

EVO refers to the LM series replica watches designed for everyday wear—its design philosophy is that all watches should be worn on the wrist, not just displayed in a cabinet. This means it features 80-meter water resistance, a screw-down crown, an integrated rubber strap, and an upgraded shock-resistant system. Furthermore, to match its more practical and sporty specifications, the watch has undergone some aesthetic improvements, such as the removal of the bezel, making the domed sapphire crystal more prominent. For a chronograph designed to withstand the rigorous testing of track days, this design is just right.

As for the flyback function, it significantly enhances the overall practicality of this already excellent chronograph. The LM Sequential actually consists of two chronographs that can operate independently or in tandem. A classic application of the flyback chronograph function is in aviation navigation, where a single button allows you to stop, reset, and restart the chronograph when switching between waypoints. With the Sequential flyback function, you can have one chronograph record the total flight time, while the other uses the flyback function to record each stage of the journey. And this is just one example of its application.

To distinguish this replica luxury watch from any previous model, it features a new dial with a sunburst brushed finish in a sea blue. Its silhouette can be glimpsed through the openworked sections of the chronograph subdials and beneath the sloping subdials. This adds a touch of soft sheen to the otherwise somewhat dense dial. However, I suspect most of your attention will ultimately be drawn to the iconic flying balance wheel.

In terms of specifications, the LM Sequential Flyback EVO boasts a 72-hour power reserve, features a double mainspring barrel, and manual winding. It also has 621 parts, a fact easily convincing even at a cursory glance at the dial. So, was it worth the nearly five-year wait for this pinnacle of timepieces? Overall, I think so.
