IWC Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium

IWC Travel Pilot’s Watch uses all black Ceratanium to create a full tactical style

The outstanding craftsmanship of IWC Schaffhausen in creating functional mechanical pilot watches has been transformed into simple and easy-to-read timing devices designed for pilots. It has been transformed into a clock icon, sparking multiple iterations, bringing additional and useful complications. One such offspring is the practical IWC pilot watch time zone, if you like Super Greenwich Mean Time. Following the versions of Spitfire The Longest Flight and Le Petit Prince, the latest member of the family is IWC Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium IW395505.

This year, IWC has been committed to updating the iconic IWC Big Pilot and Pilot’s Watch series, and there is no sign of easing. We have seen a new chronograph, a reduced version of the Big Pilot, a pair of stylish Mojave Desert watches, and a complicated perpetual calendar and tourbillon model. Let us not forget the impressive shock absorber XPL. However, the latest new product is Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium.

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Time Zone combines the basic legibility of a large pilot/pilot watch series with the practicality of indicating a second time zone in a very simple and user-friendly watch. The case and crown of this all-black tactical watch are made of Ceratanium, a special titanium alloy of IWC, which has been ceramized (don’t worry, it’s not a coating). It has a diameter of 46 mm and a height of 15.1 mm. It has a full matte black finish and is decorated with sapphire crystals on both sides (the back part is colored). The bezel has a ceramic insert with 24 cities in white.

The dial is as clear and easy to read as always, with a matte black base and light gray hour markers and numerals to keep the monochrome appearance alive. The central hand shows the local time, and the home time can be read through the arched hole at the top. This window displays three numbers at the same time to facilitate identification of the direction of rotation. The date window completes the indication, which is a must-have feature of the traveler’s nice watches.

The rotatable bezel allows you to easily adjust the time anytime, anywhere. Just press it, rotate it in the desired direction, align the corresponding city at 12 o’clock, and release it to lock it back to its original position. The central local time hour hand and the second time zone (or home time) move accordingly in one-hour increments. For places where daylight saving time is used, there are S symbol points on the bezel. During daylight saving time, the bezel should be positioned at these points to show the correct time.

Inside we found IWC’s internal 82760 automatic movement. This takes advantage of the Bieleton winding system and uses ceramic components to reduce wear. It has 22 jewels, operates at 28,800vph, and provides 60 hours of autonomy in full wind conditions. The iconic hollow rotor can be seen through the colored sapphire crystal back cover.
