Among the various products launched in Baselword this year, you can find a good representative of French brand divers-BR03-92 green bronze diver. As a professional tool watch, the inspiration for the new diver comes from the military watch. Remember the cute duality of BR03-92 MA-1? As the name suggests, the BR03-92 green bronze diving watch is characterized by a green dial theme and a special Bell&Ross square bronze case. Bell & Ross will send me number 441 for a week. Bell & Ross BR03-92 Green Bronze Diver Hands-on Review
As I mentioned before, the Bell & Ross team is happy to send me No. 441 for a week. However, this is not a paid article (just in case). As always, I will start with the demo video, so we can dive into the details. The censored work is not a new work, and already has patina. A great way to observe how bronze divers cope with time.
Case: gold and green
The housing of BR03-92 has nothing to do with metal gold. However, if you are a novice, the diver’s case looks like a huge piece of gold. Remember the Bell & Ross Vintage BR V2 94 Bellytanker bronze? But the bronze casing made of CuSn8 (92% copper and 8% tin) will age in time. According to the user’s skin pH and usage conditions, bronze can form a very unique patina.
The iconic 42mm case is perfect for many wrists and is a versatile piece. I don’t recommend wearing formal clothes. From casual office to vacation outfit, divers feel good on their wrists.
The back cover of the case is equipped with four screws to protect the wrist from the oxidation of the case. Nevertheless, after a week of continuous wrist timing, the fashion cheap watch gave me a green wrist halo on the edge and lugs of the case. Although it is not dramatic, it must always be taken into account in the bronze case.
The stainless steel back cover is beautifully decorated with a bronze diver’s helmet engraved on it, specifically for the 1940s drive unit. Decoration includes limited edition number, serial number, case material and waterproof function.
The box body has a satin brushed surface, and the sides are partially beveled and polished. The patina brings attention to every detail of the case. I have tried to “clean” the Best quality cheap watch with a cloth (it looks like I cannot remove all the dust and lint), but the things “printed” on the patina cannot be removed that way. I don’t want to deep clean, because I want this simple look.
The crown protection bulge dedicated to the diving watch is firm. The integration is pleasant, and the size and design are balanced. The screw-in crown is equipped with a rubber handle to provide excellent maneuverability.
The bronze bezel with green anodized aluminum inserts is decorated with a 60-minute scale. Interestingly, the tick continues until the 20th minute, not until the 15th minute. The one-way baffle feels good and strong. It has a nice clicking sound. See the video above.
The diver has two belts: the khaki calfskin and black rubber seen in the commented section. The bronze pin buckle will also form a unique patina.
Green dial
The Bell & Ross BR03-92 Green Bronze Divers has a dark green shade, as seen on military uniforms. I have always admired this watch, it is a green dial timepiece, but did not consider its military meaning.
The layout is full of details, but not too busy. The top of the dial is printed with the brand logo, and the bottom is printed with typical inscriptions.
The hour index is three types of gold-plated decal index with Super-LumiNova® blades. The minute/second indication on the external tilt register is printed in white. The “Empire State Building” hands (I like to call them) are skeletons and filled with Super-LumiNova®. The central seconds hand has a circular luminous insert required for the “running second hand”-the diver’s watch must be visible in the second hand in low light to signal to the diver the watch’s operating status.
As expected, the readability is good. Includes small date hole. I am always surprised to see the small date window clearly visible. The date disc is near the turntable. With the same color theme, the date looks very good and can be well integrated into the design.
4Hz beating heart
The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 green bronze diving watch is powered by the caliber BR-CAL.302. The 4Hz, 28800vph movement is an improved version of Sellita SW300-1. It provides a power reserve of 38 hours. After the initial setup, I no longer need to wind or set up the watch-normal daily wear is enough to keep the watch running under the parameters.
Since I have no actual view of the movement, I can only guess that BR-CAL.302 is industrially processed with typical classic decorations.
