Sneak Peek: Chopard Launches the New LUC 1963 Heritage Regulator Watch, Recreating Classic Elegance

In the mid-1990s, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele launched an ambitious plan to elevate Chopard’s watchmaking reputation by establishing an independent manufacturing facility in Fleurier—and ultimately succeeded. Named the LUC 1860 after founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard, this timepiece marked Chopard’s entry into the ranks of high-end watchmaking. The silver dial features a slender white gold central minute hand with contrasting blue guilloché. Three subdials display the hours, seconds, and GMT function, while a curved indicator at 12 o’clock shows the power reserve. A date window is located below the small seconds hand at 6 o’clock. Despite the rich information, the dial remains symmetrical and highly legible. The subdials are recessed, with a raised central disc; the lower half of the 24-hour GMT counter is decorated with a sunburst pattern, while the upper half features horizontal lines indicating day and night.

This timepiece is powered by Chopard’s in-house LUC 98.02-L manual-winding movement, equipped with Chopard’s exclusive Quattro four-barrel technology, providing a remarkable 9-day power reserve, especially considering the movement’s slim 4.9mm thickness.
